At United Way of Kootenai County, our mission is to improve the lives of people in our community. We work to meet people’s needs every day and to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place.

It is a common misconception that United Ways across the country are local chapters of United Way World Wide. In fact, United Way of Kootenai County is one of 1,268 United Ways nationwide. Each is independently incorporated and entirely governed by local volunteers. The money raised in each of these communities is for local programs in that area. United Way of Kootenai County raises and distributes funds to help the most vulnerable in our community. 

Donors, both corporate and individual, account for the majority of financial support to

United Way.
